Summer Preparation: Air Conditioner Maintenance

Matt Polsinello - Thursday, April 11, 2013

During the spring everyone begins to think about the upcoming warm weather and summer fun. But we all know spring cleaning comes first. An item that should be on everyone’s spring cleaning list is servicing their air conditioning system. Right now, Polsinello Fuels is offering early bird cleanings on air conditioning maintenance. Call us today and find out how much you can save. If you are interested in performing some basic maintenance yourself, here are a couple items to look for:

1. Clean or replace your air filter

The air filter is an important part of your air conditioning system. The filter cleans the air we breathe. A dirty filter can contaminant your home’s air with fungi and bacteria. A plugged filter can put strain on your air conditioning system because it will work harder than ever to cool the air in your home. Often, a plugged air filter can shut down your air conditioning system all together.

2. Check your thermostat

As we transition from heating season it is important to understand how your thermostat works. Many homes have programmable thermostats that are programmed for the winter months. During the summer, our home’s temperature requirements change and the program on your thermostat should too. Also, check your thermostat before you call for “No AC” and make sure it is set to COOL.
