Polsinello Foundation Supports the Bright Futures of Students on the Course to Vocational Careers!

Matt Polsinello - Thursday, July 30, 2015

On July 10th, 2015, all of us at Polsinello Fuels were pleased to host our 14th Annual Polsinello Foundation Golf Outing Fundraiser at Burden Lake County Club.

Under blue skies and bright sunshine,104 golfers participated in the event, teeing off to raise an impressive $21,000 for the foundation, making this our best year ever! We can’t thank everyone enough for their continuing and growing support.

The money raised was funneled into our scholarship program.  This year, we’re proud to support four high school students whose achievements are already well above par. They are launching their vocational careers, with high aspirations to pursue their futures in the following programs in the area:

-          Automotive Mechanics at Hudson Valley Community College

-          Culinary Arts at Schenectady Community College

-          Plumbing at Worcester Vocational Technical School

-          Hairdressing at ORLO School of Hair Design & Cosmetology

The Benefits of Central AC

Matt Polsinello - Tuesday, July 14, 2015

Summer is in full swing, and it’s a hot one! Having the right cooling system ensures that you and your family can enjoy relief from those scorching, summer days in the comfort of your own home. Central air conditioning systems are among the most beneficial cooling systems in existence. Some of the benefits include:

  • Larger cooling range – Central air conditioning systems provide the ability to cool an entire house at the same time, whereas window and wall units can typically only cool one room at a time.
  • Lower utility/energy costs – Window units tend to use more energy, as they are constantly running. Since it only takes one system to efficiently cool your whole house, you will not have to have multiple units running at once, resulting in lower utility bills.
  • Better air quality – Today’s central air filters are able to remove most pollutants and allergens from the air. This can also result in better respiratory health.
  • Less noise – Central air conditioning systems are much quieter than window units, which are known for being loud when running.
  • Takes up less space – Central AC requires no inside space to be used for installation, reducing clutter.
  • Easy to operate – most central AC controls are very simple to use.
  • Can also provide heat – Some central AC systems can also conveniently provide heat in the winter with the flip of a switch.

What to do if You Smell Propane in Your Home

Matt Polsinello - Tuesday, July 07, 2015

Propane is a fuel that comes from oil refining and natural gas processing. It is used by over 60 million Americans for heat, hot water, cooking, fireplaces, dryers, vehicles, swimming pool heaters and more, making it one of the most versatile fuels in existence. Since propane is naturally colorless and odorless, odorant is added so it can be more easily detected. It is very serious if you smell propane in your home, so you need to be sure to take the appropriate measures.

If you smell propane in your home, here is what you should do to ensure the safety of yourself and others:

  • Leave the building immediately
  • Do not turn light switches on or off
  • Do not do anything that can cause a spark (using a lighter, smoking, using hairspray, etc.)
  • Leave doors open
  • If it is safe, turn off the gas supply at the tank
  • Do not re-enter the building if you are outside
  • Once you are safe, call your gas supplier and emergency personnel
  • Keep yourself and others out of the building until help arrives
